Maro Nook is up for sale.  July 1960, I spent my first night in Leland here at Maro Nook as a newly engaged house guest. My wife’s father Remi Gits bought this beautiful home in the late thirties from Harry Harrison, who had bought it from Mrs. Maro (Allie).  Harry Harrison owned Redpath Orchards and was the founder of the Redpath Chautauqua in Suttons Bay.  A lot of wonderful history connected with this home.  I hope it can find a family that will love it as much as my wife’s family and mine.  Back in 1995, David Copperfield contacted me and was interested in buying Maro Nook.  His picture in the lower right shows a Maro poster behind him in his Las Vegas Museum. He went on tour to Europe and I never heard from again.  Maro, Walter Truman Best, built the Old Art Building as a gathering place for the ladies of Leland.

The Cory family has great memories with the current owners at this beautiful spot.

As a friend of Francie Gits and the Larsen girls, I was invited to slumber parties at one of the cottages near the “big house”! It was enchanting to a teenager and brings back many fond memories.
