Latest Information About the Development of the Jail Property: The Planning Board did not vote yes or no on the proposal, but agreed to have a formal public hearing on this on April 22nd.

 

The developer of the Leland River Club changed his proposal again during his presentation at the meeting.  The developer will  have to submit a "final" proposal soon to have it be the subject of the public hearing.

 

The developer said at the meeting that the cost of these units will run between $450,000 and 900,000. At this time there 'affordable housing' is not a consideration.

 

The developer told the Planning Board that if his current plan is not approved, he will 'go ahead with the PUD as originally proposed by Kelly and Varley', meaning more units. He made it clear he and his investors are "not going away."

Well, in my opinion the Varley-Kelly Site Plan was far superior than anything this guy has produced. It's on page 22 of the recent appraisal, which you can download as a PDF file here: http://tinyurl.com/leland-pud-appraisal -Thedensity may be slightly higher but the number of structures is about the same, and the cars are handled internally. Also, the homes near the river are the expensive ones, and less of them, so there won't be a renter's Partytown USA at the pool at river's edge.
