A very Happy 98th Birthday to my dad, Bill Steel!! I know he'd like to be celebrating it in Leland but family and friends celebrated with him in Williamstown, Ma. with an energetic and fun drumming circle followed by Mom's famous cake with caramel icing for dessert!

As a 'local' of Leland, whenever I hear Bill Steel's name, I can (in my mind) hear him singing "On Top of Old Smokey" as he walked down Main Street. He always brought a happy feeling, I'm sure to more than me. Greetings and joy to him at the miraculous aga of 98!

Thank you, Sara. I will be sure to pass on your greetings. By the way, as a teenager I was mortified by his public singing. Now, I love it when we dance and sing down the hall.
