I don't know how many inches of rain fell overnight, but I think it was many.  The main player this morning was the wind, canceling all  trips to the islands.  There were a lot of disappointed Labor Day weekend campers and if tomorrow is much the same, more will be.  Mother Nature doesn't care about holidays.  The wind is generating little patches of lake effect rain just like in the winter with lake effect snow.  Looking at an animated weather map it appears the Category 1 hurricane on the east coast is part of the equation.  Is the Summer of 2010 over?.....  technically in 18 days... yes.  Seems a bit early for discussion, but snowfall predictions are in the making.  This because Big Blue is so warm and something about cold air moving across warm waters produce lots of white stuff.  Back 1996, Leelanau County had a record 231 inches and last year 101.  Oh My G...  see what happens, the temperature falls 10 degrees and the conversation turns to thoughts of Winter.

Looking west at Big Blue's early afternoon brute force.

Big Blue shows it's many colors, and the intrepid reporter catches them to share. Many thanks, Mr. Burnham, for sharing the moments that you capture and sparking memories of earlier times and different places.

On the Cove cam I see the rain drops and the trees blowing in the wind. Looks cold but I would welcome that - it's 102 degrees here today!

WOW, awesome pics. Thanks. Via webcam at the Academy in TC, I see the Tall Ship Pride of Baltimore. Looks weird, maybe stern sitting on the bottom.

They just mentioned on the news that they've cancelled the ferry across Lake Michigan to Wisconisin because of the high winds. Yes, it is quite a blustery day today but I appreciate the cooler temperatures it's bringing. Time for a little "cuddle alert" this weekend.
