A perfect Leland day with temperatures in the lower 80's and sunny skies.  With beaches crowded and hot, Biscuit and I toured some of the back trails.  Our overnight hours have scattered thunder showers forecasted, continuing through Tuesday with isolated thunder showers.  I have no idea what the difference is.

Would it be possible to see a beach shot with a crowded beach? I just want to see how crowded it gets.

From the National Weather Service Online School for Weather: Isolated -- A NWS convective precipitation descriptor for a 10% chance of measurable precipitation (0.01"). "Isolated" is used interchangeably with "few." Scattered -- A NWS convective precipitation descriptor for a 30%, 40%, and 50% chance of measurable precipitation. Convective Rain -- Rain associated with convective or cumuliform clouds characterized by vertical development in the form of rising mounds, domes, or towers.

Huh??? If you say so. I thought when I looked at today's beautiful picture - well, mares' tails above and thunder clouds in the distance....looks like rain is coming!

Thank you for the definitions, from one who wondered (but was too lazy to look it up). But, to tell the truth, where I live, scattered v. isolated usually appears the same when the it comes to rain actually falling (isolated or scattered in some areas only).

Beautiful day there.

My Dad always called the long whispy clouds that curl up on the end mares' tails.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned on TLR, but big congratulations to Leland Report regular HeyJude and hubby Glen, who's beautiful daughter Maria was chosen as this year's National Cherry Queen a couple days ago. http://record-eagle.com/local/x2016067117/Reign-is-family-affair-for-new-Cherry-Queen Leland's mention in Budget Travel, then MSNBC and Yahoo Travel, etc., ain't bad either!

Stephanie in New Baltimore, MI I also saw on yahoo travel Leland listed in the top 10 of Best Small Towns to visit!

Keith ... when I saw today's caption I thought maybe you'd decided to start hiking up to the top of the "Loaf" again.
