A beautiful morning on the beach…. rain in the forecast
Say it again… another beautiful day in Leelanau County. M22 south of 204 is a great new road to drive on.
Leelanau County was the only county excluded from the snow attack this morning on national news. At the moment, the western Michigan shoreline is the only rain/snow free zone in the state. Wind is blowing 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40. Tomorrow and Saturday supposed to be sunny with temperature warming.
Another record breaking day, something to reflect upon. Only two shops open, Tug Stuff and Leif Sporck’s Tile Shop. You would think more shops would be open on such a nice summer day. One of those days that’s just like so many of the other days… On the warm side with clear skies and light wind off Big Blue. Such beautiful surroundings! August begins exactly as one would hope: sunny, clear skies, mild temps, lots of great activity in town and on the water.
A cloudy and on the warm and humid side get-up. Thunderstorms south of us causing a lot turmoil with the Mac Race overnight. Best I could muster up with my telephoto lens is the picture below. Clouds ruled most of the day with spurts of sunshine here and there. Town was really crowded.
What a great day it turned out to be for whatever you wanted to do, especially running a 5K race. Congratulations to Nick Amato, winner. One of the DeVos family cruisers above, anchored out in front of Sleeping Bear Point. Van’s Beach looking like a picture postcard. Forecast for tomorrow… scattered thunderstorms.
Fishtown is a busy place this afternoon in preparation of the 5K race tomorrow. Tonight the Old Art Building is hosting the 24th Art Leelanau, featuring over 100 artists.
