Vol XVI – #117 – Chicago to Mac… Passing Through

A cloudy and on the warm and humid side get-up.  Thunderstorms south of us causing a lot turmoil with the Mac Race overnight.  Best I could muster up with my telephoto lens is the picture below.  Clouds ruled most of the day with spurts of sunshine here and there. Town was really crowded.

Vol XVI – #116 – A 5K Saturday

What a great day it turned out to be for whatever you wanted to do, especially running a 5K race.  Congratulations to Nick Amato, winner.   One of the DeVos family cruisers above, anchored out in front of Sleeping Bear Point.   Van’s Beach looking like a picture postcard.  Forecast for tomorrow… scattered thunderstorms.

Vol XVI – #115 – A Fishtown Friday

Fishtown is a busy place this afternoon in preparation of the 5K race tomorrow.  Tonight the Old Art Building is hosting the 24th Art Leelanau, featuring over 100 artists.

Vol XVI – #114 – A Rainy Fishtown Day

Fishtown never shuts down, especially on a rainy day.  And like all rainy days, it stops and the sun comes out.  At least 6 people asked if it was alright if they petted Biscuit and of course my response, yes, but you have to have your picture with him.  This happens every day.  Below, one of the guys saw me in the parking… Read more »

Vol XVI – #112 – What’s Happenin?

A busy time here in Lelandtown with art shows, 5K runs and Summinars.  Something for everyone.  Very impressive is the number of outstanding artists we have here in Leelanau County.  I’ve always aspired to be an artist of some sort since I was able to hold a pencil or crayon as child.  Later I wanted to be a cartoonist and taught… Read more »

Vol XVI – #111 – Meggen’s Monday

A quintessential Leelanau County day is in store. Sunny, clear, with just-about-right temps. Today’s photos are glimpses from the Leland River – a favorite journey.

Vol XVI # 069 – Meggen’s Monday

Clear skies this morning offered a delightful reprieve from the weekend’s rain and clouds: blue skies over Fishtown. Earlier this weekend, we met Lucy at Stander Marine in Leland – calmly riding along as her master goes about his work. Also it’s a great time to walk the trail at Leelanau Conservancy’s Houdek Dunes Natural Area to see the… Read more »

Vol XV #246 – There’s No Joy in Fishtown

Today was forecasted to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy and indeed it started out that way only to be completely overcast by noon.  Along with there not being any JOY in Fishtown, there is no sunshine.  In spite of Thanksgiving Day being rainy, it was a wonderful day to be with our families.     Don’t forget about 20% off everything… Read more »

Vol XV #245 – Why Did the Joy Cross the Road?

(Today’s report is from Jim) Our eyes in Leland alerted us about the effort to move the Joy to Stander Marine for some needed R&R (Repaint and Refurbish). Wind died down today and the sun came out for the rest of the afternoon. An all-around Leland day. Don’t forget about 20% off everything on the store through Monday. Use coupon code “biscuitdog”… Read more »
