First, this is not an invitation to comment on the current election, but if you have any tidbits on the listed election or other historical elections, you may bring them up! Here are a few items from the 10/18/28 edition of the Leelanau Enterprise. This issue covered the 1928 campaign of Herbert Hoover vs. Al Smith.  It was clear who the Enterprise was backing as they showed several cartoons glorifying Herbert Hoover’s life. In other news, the bridge through Glen Arbor was to be replaced, as well as the gaveling of the road north of Leland all the way up to the “boundary between the Firestone and Egeler farms”. Some of you might know where that is!

Love the Hoover cartoon … my folks married in September 1930 in Peninsula, Ohio … would love to know what they were thinking back then about presidential stuff
