Vol XXII – #57 – A Little Color

Hi, it’s been a while, I know.  With everything going on, it was a nice day to take the red jeep out and do some shopping. The apple trees on Pertner and Macksey were being picked and I stopped to take a picture before they were cleared out. For what it’s worth, we will not be printing a… Read more »

Vol XXII – #56 – Point Betsie, Arcadia, and Big Sable

I am back in Illinois, but on the way down I stopped at some of my favorite places. Pointe Betsie, Arcadia Marsh, and Big Sable Lighthouse. Pointe Betsie was pretty crowded, so I parked back by the nature conservancy trail and walked around the dunes. I always stop at this twisted pine deadfall on the way back. This birch stands… Read more »

Vol XXII – #55 – Pickleball in Leland

My daughter came up for a week to visit and brought her pickleball paddle. Wouldn’t you know it, there are courts in Leland now at Hancock Field! After the downpour today, we headed over and I fell 2 games to one on a call of rain. Later, a hazy sunset on the breakwall.       You’ve all been very… Read more »

Vol XXII – #54 – Stranded

Seems like this kind of thing happens once every few years. I don’t know how this unlucky sailor got stranded on the shore in Good Harbor Bay, but extracting a boat this big is never an easy task. My friend Gwenn Stevenson sent me over to the Overheard in Leelanau Facebook page for the video of this group of… Read more »

Vol XXII – #53 – Leelanau Heritage Trail

Today was gloomy, cold, and rainy (but we really needed it), so you get yesterday’s photos.  I finally got to ride part of the Leelanau Heritage Trail yesterday from Bohemian Rd down to Glen Haven and back. 24 great miles round trip! Read on… Had my second Sandhill Crane encounter of the week, both ushering two chicks into the… Read more »

Vol XXII – #52 – Frankfort Sunset

I am up for over a week before heading up to Drummond Island with Deb for a Jeep Jamboree. I’m not driving this year, the Grand Cherokee has been on three Jamborees and has seen better days. At 160k miles, I rather not hasten its demise. I caught the sunset in Frankfort on the way up on Sunday. The original… Read more »

Vol XXII – #51 – Blue Jay

The weather is still so-so and apparently will continue to be for the next week or so. But I still have some suet and my log and had not gotten a Blue Jay yet. Today was my lucky day. Also, peppermint essential oil repels squirrels. They hate it, it’s a hilarious sight.     You’ve all been very good… Read more »
