We say goodbye to our friend Lee (Bubby) Workum, a friend of the Leland Report, lifelong family friend, fellow sailor and Barbecruiser. We have had the privilege of knowing him and Nikki and their son Eric (below, middle) and his brother Lee and sister Taya as well as the many cousins for over 50 years. We’ve all shared and loved the Leland life together. I’m sure Bubby would have been happy that today was sunny, a little chilly but not too cold, with just enough clouds and a stiff breeze out of the North to sail on. We raise a toast to you today.
I’m officially sitting in the Art Shanty. I’ll be there from 10-4pm until 7/5 with canvas, metal, and framed prints, and some cool little acrylic blocks. We’ll also have our book and some classic Keith Burnham Leland series pen and ink prints.
I hope business goes well! So sorry about your family’s and Leland’s friend. 😥
I am so sorry to hear the news about Bubby. I don’t remember a time that I didn’t know the Workums. Mom and I used to walk down the road to visit “Aunt Mamie and Uncle Lee” and of course the Steels and the Workums had lots of discussions on the merits of Nationals versus Lightnings. Bubby and Nikki were such good friends to my parents in their later years. Here’s to some fine sailing, Bubby.
It’s nice to have friends like that & be such a friend, also.
