(Report by Jim and Mark)
Mark Smith might not need an introduction to many of you, he is not only our neighbor to the North on Lake Leelanau, but he is also the first short story you see when you open our book, The Leland Report, 15 Years in the Leelanau Peninsula. Mark is an Instructor at Northwestern Michigan College and teaches at Leland Public School. He also just won the 2020 Volunteer of the year for Leelanau Conservancy for his photography work with them. He is going to be helping us continue the Leland Report tradition while Keith recovers.

WOW – you folks sure have a corner on the market of ‘great photographers’. I’ve often said that ‘in my next life I want to come back as a great photographer, travel the world to submit fantastic photos to some future journalistic venue, and return to a farm home featuring rolling hills on the shores of Lake MI and raise cows – milk cows because I could never kill for meat such a placid peaceful looking animal. I can only dream of taking such great photos as you Burnhams, and now your equally awesome friends aswell. But then, I comfort… Read more »
