Feels like I was just down the coast last week. Oh yeah, I was. I wanted to stop by Grand Haven then, but forgot that they started closing off the pier after it gets coated with ice. There are some warnings about people that have died on the pier, 50 since 1871. Wait, 50 in 150 years? I’d like to take my chances, but with a $500 fine now, not likely. Back in February of 2019 when the pier was still accessible, I went out with my YakTrax and got this shot of some kids playing on the ice mound. I didn’t know that would be one of the last non-drone shots of it in this state.

This rolled in last evening but didn’t see till this AM. That’s a good thing as I’d have been out climbing ice with those kids or walking into the fog on a slippery bridge in my dreams all nite!
