It’s not every day you get to see a building fly through the air. Last Thursday, Dec. 3rd, the Biggs Contruction – Team Elmers – Kasson Contractors group of professionals succeeded in relocating the “Otherside Shanty” to dry land so the foundation can be refurbished and elevated safely above the high water mark. It was quite an orchestration. Fishtown Preservation has been diligently caring for these historic shanties – to make a contribution head over to www.fishtownmi.org.

It’s amazing… what was under it? It looks like just water?
The water had entered the building and caused considerable damage, which was the primary motivation for moving the building to shore up the foundation (old pilings, mostly submerged). It’ll be much better with this refurbishing.
