Vol XVI – #151 – On the Rainy Side

A rainy day for sure and in spite of that, it was busy day in Fishtown.  It was also busy on the south side of the Carp River as the crew of the JOY packed up the nets and gear, called it a season.

Vol XVI – #150 – On the Sunnyside of the Dock

Normally the pictures for the report are taken in the morning or at noon, today mid afternoon after a long session in the Big City By the Bay.   Incredible cloud formations all day which waited for me to get back home. Great to catch the Cove’s water taxi in motion.  What kind of an afternoon was it?… Great!     … Read more »

Vol XVI – #149 – On the Way Back From Suttons Bay… Farms Along the Way

To Suttons Bay and back this morning for a pre-op physical.  Going to have cataract surgery early next month, I really don’t know what the Leland Report will be, hopefully son Jim can make some magic happen from central Illinois.  Joanne and I enjoyed lunch at the Cove, always a pleasant experience, especially the service.

Vol XVI – #148 – Raining

Bright skies quickly changed to darkness, thunder, lightning and our morning began with a bang.   For the second time this summer the Jeep had it’s safari top installed.  In spite of the rain drops, Fishtown was crowded.

Vol XVI – #147 – Blue Heron Tuesday

After a brief overnight shower, the morning began with puffy whites and a light breeze.  A tree that has been for the past year a monument to the August 2, 2015 storm at Lake and Pearl, was history by mid morning. The picture of the Blue Heron was actually taken yesterday after the Sheriff alerted me that it was across… Read more »

Vol XVI # 052 – AM 580 On Your Radio Dial

Jim and I were interviewed by Colleen Wares, WTCM radio, in the Big City By the Bay this morning at 11:30 am EDT.  We talked about the Leland Report book that has just been printed and will be available here in Leland in June.  Jim by telephone and I of course in person.  I was fortunate enough to find a… Read more »

Vol XV # 366 – Meggen’s Monday

Even when it’s gray and rainy, this area offers up beautiful views. When the sky is almost the same color as the water (in fog or in bright sun), we call it an “infinity day” – it’s hard to discern where one ends and the other begins. The past couple of days have been bright and sunny: great for trudging… Read more »

Vol XV # 365 – Easter Sunday

(Report by Jim)  Easter Sunday is cold and cloudy, but at least it isn’t raining. On the way back from St. Wenceslaus this morning, I saw this group of seagulls chillin’ on the roof of a nearby barn. There is always something to see here.

Vol XV # 357 – Nothing to Wine About

A clear and cold get-up.  Beautiful blue in the sky makes up for it.  A trip down French Road brought back memories of early Leland Reports. What kind of a day was it?…  A Leelanau kind of day of course !
