Flying high with the drone just south of Cathead Bay in Leelanau State Park. The dunes out here are amazing! To get here, drive to the end of Densmore Rd, which is just north of Woosley Airport, which is just north of Northport. The road runs along the south side of Mud Lake and ends at the trailhead parking lot. It’s a beautiful forest trail with a cool bridge, a lookout platform and dunes at the end. You also get a pretty good view of South Fox Island (sunset). Below is the North End of Lake Leelanau.

Always enjoy the photos of Leland and surroundings, however I’m especially pleased to see the Northport area where my forebears began their American lives – Fredrickson and Holton great-grands on my Dad’s side, and Wilson and Gagnon’s on Mom’s. AND in mid-1950’s we kids all loved summer bonfires & guitars on beach parties at Cathead – sigh – so long ago, but fond memories of cousins and friends, and SO loved Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles …. “those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end” ….
