(Report by Jim)
At this point, I can’t guarantee calendars will make it anywhere before Christmas, especially this year. I purposely bought less knowing sales would be lackluster, but I still have a bunch ready to go. You can get a calendar at Leelanau Books in Leland or online Get your 2021 Leland Report Calendar Online
Here’s a summary of the photos above:
- Empire Beach Ice Castles March 2019. On my way up to Leland, I stopped for the sunset at Empire Beach and caught another adventurous soul photographing the shoreline. (Jim)
- Clay Cliffs, 2005. Keith took this photo of me on the top of an outcropping of sand. All probably sitting underwater, now. (Keith)
- On the way back from a hike at the Kehl Lake trail, the full moon was rising behind a row of trees at the edge of a field. (Jim)
- Along the beach on Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore, some remnants of an old shipwreck start to peek out. (Meggen)
- Who can forget the low-water mark in 2003? Quite a difference this Summer when the water would have been touching the kids pointing finger. (Keith)
- Capt Joel Petersen settling in after being out collecting trap nets. (Meggen)
- Heading back to Illinois, I was captivated by a typical cloudy day on Grand Traverse Bay and caught a small schooner passing by. (Jim)
- At the point where you fork at the start of Pierce Stocking Trail is a large pine plantation. Lay on the ground and look up! (Jim)
- I’ve never been to North Manitou Island, but Meggen and her Dad have many times to help renovate the camp buildings there. (Meggen)
- Having some Fall color fun on Northport Pt. (Jim)
- Five kitesurfers off Van’s Beach, all in one shot. (Keith)
- This is near #2, but a later year on the Clay Cliffs. Today, there is a house. (Keith)
Fortunately, a good number of books shipped out this year, as well as some prints, like the two featured today. These were taken at Onomonee Rd Beach in Northport in April 2019 when the water level was around where it is today, but not quite at it’s high, yet. When I was up there in August, much of this beach was already pushed back. I am making my way up there again on Sunday so I’ll be bringing more pics from new places, at least for me they are. You can find these two photos and others here: https://www.burnhamgraphicarts.com/leland-report-landscapes. The link to the calendar is below.
