I’ve said it before, what a difference a day makes! I’ve never taken the hike all the way down to the big lake from the Sleeping Bear Dune climb before, so I took the opportunity today with bright blue skies and, better late than never, some puffy white clouds. I always thought this path ended at a steep dune next to the lake, but it’s a pretty direct path to the water. 3.6 miles round trip through sand is a slow hike, but worth it. A warning for anyone going to the lake, there are many points where you swear you are getting close, then you crest a hill and it seems like there is another couple miles to hike. Once you start hearing the waves, you are close.
