I thought I would park by the Merc and walk down to the harbor mid-day on Sunday. I stuck my head around the corner of the building and promptly changed my mind! The photo above was taken from the car, with window open, right down by the harbor. The waves crashed to magnificent height and the force of the wind was formidable. Only about 5 shutter clicks and this (below) is what my lens looked like. Blowing snow. While I was there, quite a few cars pulled up, one person would jump out, take a very quick windblown photo, and get back in the car. In the back of my mind echoed the refrain from Sunday Night Sings: “blow ye winds, heigh ho!…” By Monday afternoon much of the storm wind has abated and much of the power has been restored. Thanks to all the hard working crews! It’s still chilly…
For everyone wondering what is happening with the snow gauge contest, we will be announcing a continuation soon.
