Vol XVI – #165 – Splish Splash

They said it was gonna rain and by golly it did and still is.  It didn’t start out that way, it all began with partly cloudy interesting clouds.  The Dark Sky app on my phone said it was going to rain in one hour so Biscuit and I went to recycling and back and sure enough it started to rain. … Read more »

Vol XVI – #164 – Oh Say Can I See…

What can I say…  “I see” said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw.  Drove to town this morning and could actually see the cars coming toward me in the shadow of the roadside trees.  Just kidding, but the differences from yesterday to this morning are significant.  This is especially true as I was wearing sunglasses… Read more »

Vol XVI – #161 – Where Did Everybody Go?

A thunderstorm just roared through and the power went out.  The Generac kicked in and is doing it’s job for the past half hour..  What is interesting is that cable didn’t go off and the internet  is still with us.  The sun is now shinning. Anyway, Day after Labor Day and town is empty.

Vol XVI – #160 – Meggen’s Monday

Meggen ran the 59th Annual Mackinac Bridge walk this morning. Some 600 runners kick the day off early, finishing before the walkers. That’s sunrise, above, from the middle of the bridge. Sunset, below, at Good Harbor, well after the holiday southbound traffic subsided. Happy end-of-summer from up north!

Vol XVI – #159 – Julie and Biscuit in a Pumpkin Patch

Our daughter Julie, here for the Labor Day weekend, spotted this pumpkin Saturday on the way back from Suttons Bay and thought it would be a great place to have her picture taken with Biscuit. A beautiful Sunday here in the Leelanau as well as Fishtown.  Tomorrow, the Bridge Walk Over the Carp River.

Vol XVI – #157 – No Clouds Today… Well Maybe One

There was only one little cloud in a blue, blue sky and how it got there I’ll never know.  It started out cool, but became very comfortable soon after.  A very nice day I’d say.

Vol XVI – #154 – Another One of Those Beautiful Leelanau Days

The age of the visitors to Leland has changed as the families with school age children are back at home and the older generations are on the move. It’s amazing how many arrive on 2 wheels decked out in full leather.   I used to have a motorcycle… rode it here in the Leelanau wearing shorts, tee shirt, tennis shoes –… Read more »

Vol XVI – #153 – Meggen’s Monday

When I think of summer weather, I think of days just like today. Sunny, a little cool in the morning, warming up during the day.  It’s a great time for a swim in the big lake!   Wishing our granddaughter Meredith Burnham a Happy 13th Birthday
