The picture above shows the shoreline that has been battered by southwest, west, northwest winds that have eroded the beach to the degree that I’m at least 6 or more feet above the beach. One of the reasons is the lack of ice on the Great Lakes. This of course contributes to lake effect snow and the lack of sunshine.
Sad News Dept.: Julia Hunsberger (Kit, Hank and Whitney McKay’s mother) died yesterday. She was a very loyal supporter of the Leland Report.
The Leland Report/Leif Spork Snow Gauge contest is closed. We had a total of 47 entries. We will report the final tally on 4/30/16!
The lake level was ~11 inches above the long-term average for January, ~2 inches above last year at this time, ~2 feet below the all-time high in 1987, and ~3.3 feet above the all-time low in 2013.
Well, no one can say Michigan’s weather is boring.
