Sorry for the long delay in posting, I was in Florida for the New Year and was pretty busy in January. The first week of February I was sick with Covid and although I’ve completely recovered, I thought it best to skip a month traveling up to Leland. The photos here were taken on my way back on my last… Read more »
A couple inches of snow fell overnight replacing what we lost yesterday. My goal was to hike Leelanau Conservancy trails Shauger Hill and Windy Moraine, but ended up hiking up Pierce Stocking to the N Bar Lake and Lake Michigan overlooks first instead (having completely missed the Shauger Hill trailhead at the entrance to the parking lot). Pierce Stocking Drive… Read more »
The sun finally came out and stayed out all day. I needed a 16″ water supply hose today and the only place open was in Traverse City, so I headed south, stopping by some scenic views along the way. Today’s post is a throwback to a Leelanau Enterprise dated 12/27/1934. You can see the subscriber name printed right at the top of… Read more »
I tried out the two new mountain bike trails at Palmer Woods, Ursa Minor and Ursa Major. Minor is an easy and fun 1 mile track, Major is a lot of the same, but three miles. Had a lot of fun riding fast down these trails. Thanks to Chad, doing trail maintenance for Leelanau Conservancy, who reminded me that I… Read more »
(Report by Jim) I apologize for the lack of reports lately, I have had quite a few messages and even phone calls asking if there was anything wrong. Well, Keith is not physically able to do this every day and it’s better that he not have the responsibility. I am in Illinois, but I have begun the process of searching… Read more »
(Report by Jim) Teichner Preserve is a Leelanau Conservancy area on Lime Lake Rd. It’s a short third of a mile walk to the East side of Lime Lake, but I made the most of it. During the Spring and Summer, it should be a treat with the boardwalk through the marsh and some possible Blue Flag Irises, which I’ve… Read more »
