Spent the day in the Big City By the Bay and returned home in time for a nice sunset. . .

The sun was shining and I drove over to East Leland to photograph the shanties on the north end of the lake. As I arrived, the sky clouded over and it began to snow. I returned to the west side and the sky turned blue again. . .
I want to wish my son James Burnham a Happy 50th Birthday. It has been so far, a real Winter this year, not the snowiest or coldest, just day after day Winter. I understand that cross-country ski conditions on the Heritage Trail are excellent right now – new powder along with low temps – so head out to enjoy it if you can. And for that matter, what ducks do no matter what the weather is. It’s a rainy day, the leaves are falling and town is pretty empty and Biscuit and I are going home.
Clouds are still providing a classic gray cover here. It’s the season for watching ducks at the Narrows, having pumpkin spice coffee, and staying in touch.
