The Leelanau is a perfect place to fully embrace each of the four seasons. We are in the middle of a bonanza of oranges, yellows, and reds: this morning, raindrops and sunbeams intensified the colors. Today’s photographs are from within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. By sunrise yesterday, I was deep in the park, hiking through morning fog, enjoying an unusual bit of solitude at a popular destination (Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive). As I stood at the top of the dune a buck ran uphill straight toward me. He only stopped when I raised my camera. In an instant he was running, faster, in the other direction, and I was reflecting on a magnificent moment.
