Well, well, well — the beautiful blues in today’s photographs remind me of the strange fact that very few things in nature are actually blue, as I’m sure you remember from freshman physics. 🙂 Sunlight, of course, contains all colors (wavelengths) of light, which combine to produce white. But air and water are actually colorless, and they (and whaleback) appear to be blue because of the greater scattering of the shorter (bluer) wavelengths of the sunlight.
