(Report by Jim)
I took some time to enjoy the false spring to take another trail. The rock above is on the Leelanau Heritage Trail next to the Olsen Barn (below). In it, I saw the mother bear in the Sleeping Bear legend, perched on a bluff, searching for her cubs. Down Point Oneida Rd from here is the Bay View Trail. If you’ve been on this trail you might recognize this bizarre pine tree with what looks like two additional pine trees growing off the side!
Which way do you think I went? đŸ™‚Â Actually, this is not as ominous as it sounds, it’s more for x-country skiers to not take that way down, it’s only one way. But if I had, I would have missed this nice ridgeline trail. Perfect for some long exposure wipes.

Thanks for sharing these pics, places I’ve not been!
You do have an eye for the unusual as well the beautiful !
Missed the ‘bear’ on 1st look, scrolled back & immediately saw what you saw. AWESOME! and WOW, what a unique tree….makes me wonder how it appears to stand upright …. guess there must be unseen number of counterbalance branches but again WOW. As always, thanks for sharing your special views!
Great pics.. I get the rock..that tree is amazing!!!
