Vol XXII – #53 – Leelanau Heritage Trail

Report #7074 Photo: LR-6-13-23

Today was gloomy, cold, and rainy (but we really needed it), so you get yesterday’s photos.  I finally got to ride part of the Leelanau Heritage Trail yesterday from Bohemian Rd down to Glen Haven and back. 24 great miles round trip! Read on…

Had my second Sandhill Crane encounter of the week, both ushering two chicks into the forest ahead of me. This one was a bit more polite about my presence there.

I always have to stop at the Charles Olsen Farm Silo because the shadows and textures on it are always different.

The boardwalk over the wetlands north of Glen Arbor

Lastly, something for Deb, who is joining me here tomorrow before we head up to Drummond Island for a Jeep Jamboree.

You’ve all been very good to us over the years, from helping secure a collection of Erhardt Peters negatives and prints, to supporting this website by buying prints and calendars. $3 of every $6 from the sale of this book will go toward this effort and you get more than just a good feeling, you might also get a laugh or two. The rest goes to printing and shipping costs. This will officially be my second book and go to the Library of Congress with the Leland Report Book.

I thought you had already ridden that trail! It’s fun, isn’t it? While it was nice to borrow a bike, next time, I’d rather have my Kona or road bike! Did you stop in GA for a pint like your brother?

Great pictures. Love that area having spent 50+ Summers in the area. Love the lake and stones. Thank you for all the years of The Leland Report.

Your wonderful photos, especially the one of the lake and the rocks just at the edge, make me so homesick for Leland and Good Harbor Bay.
