The early morning greeted us with a very light and fine snowfall which continued on through noon. Made it down to South Beach, didn’t know if I was going to make it back, but I did. . .

Spent the day in the Big City By the Bay and returned home in time for a nice sunset. . .

The sun was shining and I drove over to East Leland to photograph the shanties on the north end of the lake. As I arrived, the sky clouded over and it began to snow. I returned to the west side and the sky turned blue again. . .
I want to wish my son James Burnham a Happy 50th Birthday. It has been so far, a real Winter this year, not the snowiest or coldest, just day after day Winter. I understand that cross-country ski conditions on the Heritage Trail are excellent right now – new powder along with low temps – so head out to enjoy it if you can. h Woke up this morning to power outages and school closings due to overnight icy conditions. Leelanau County was spared the outages. Thursday and Friday, temperature to return to upper 30’s and 40’s. .
Today we have snow, or possibly rain washing away snow. It’s a study of “hard water” meets the liquid form. Over the weekend, one of our neighbors commented on a preference for temps in the teens and twenties throughout the winter. We smiled in agreement. .
