The summer of 1960, my first visit to Leland. Newly engaged, my fiancee’s mother, Mrs Remi J. Gits had invited me to Leland. Jack Larson driving, we picked up Joanne at the Northern Trust, downtown Chicago.  She had caught a forger that morning. 7 hours  later arrived in Leland. Our first stop was a tavern named “The Bluebird”.
