The day began with big waves splashing over the breakwall along with BB sized hale. A rainbow graced the western sky as a lonely surfer fought the wind, waves and rain. In the early afternoon occasional pockets of blue opened up, what can you say other than it’s an eclectic weather day.
A lot of parking spaces available in town this afternoon. Gale force winds make outdoor activities not much fun unless you’re surfing or kite boarding. Color is developing rapidly in the areas with a lot of maples. This coming weekend should be nice to color tour.
A brisk wind out of the Northwest was just right for about 10 surfers just after sunrise. I waited for near 15 minutes for someone to ride a wave and decided to leave. Fair skies ruled the early morning dawn and as the sun began to rise, the clouds started to move in. The result being a sunrise with a great ball of fire. Around noon, drizzle and then rain began to fall. What kind of day was it?… An October day.
A special moment as the sun rises over Fishtown. The sailboat could have had a little more wind to sail home with, but what a beautiful morning it was. Wow!… and if you had planned a wedding on Van’s Beach in late September, how lucky can you get. Congratulations to the bride and groom.
Another one of those Leelanau days with an overcast beginning and the sun returning in mid-afternoon.

Biscuit and I walked Van’s Beach and then North Beach and couldn’t find anything to find fault with, it was indeed a “Picture Postcard Day”
It’s a perfect day to do anything you want to do under a clear blue.
The Server was doing it’s job this AM when I got up and by 8:30 am I posted yesterday’s Report. Around noon it failed again, but it’s up and running now.
