Report by Jim Saturday, I took M22 and M31 down the whole state up to 196. Stopped at Pt. Betsie, Grand Haven, and Muskegon. Another first, as I have never visited these lighthouses in the winter. Lots of people applauded me for wearing chains on my shoes, as they slipped and slid all around the ice-covered walkway.

Report by Jim Fishtown in Lights is back.The mortgage burning was postponed because of the ice storm, but the lights still went on at 6pm. Marsha Burnette of Fishtown Preservation was there with a sign for me while Andrew McFarland of leelanau.com recorded a message about Fishtown as the lights went on. Report by Jim These are shots from Sunday on the way up. Holland and the Big Red Lighthouse in the fog and surrounded by lake ice. Later, Grand Haven Lighthouse and port side beacon light. Thes are the first lighthouses I’ve been able to visit during the Winter and it was quite a thrill, if not hazardous walking.

1/20/2002, 17 years ago, Keith was still sledding down the driveway, Herman Rd still had two old jalopies in the lot in Suttons Bay, and the Merc just installed new boat slips. How things have changed.

I set up a baited log on the porch this week for some birding photos and after the wind knocked it down yesterday, the black squirrels found it. Happy to have filled in this week!
