One of my favorite indicators of spring is the forsythia that blooms, and heading north into Leland is an amazing row, just popping now. It’s a clear, cool spring day up north!
A clear and cold get-up. Beautiful blue in the sky makes up for it. A trip down French Road brought back memories of early Leland Reports. What kind of a day was it?… A Leelanau kind of day of course !
Today’s pictures are revisits to familiar places with nice cloud formations. What is special about today is the temperature which is 66 degrees. The snow which has dominated our landscape is disappearing rapidly. Today’s photographs are from a couple of hikes taken over the weekend in our nearby national lakeshore. The melting snow made patterns all over the dunes. It was still chilly enough that it probably wasn’t melting very fast while we were out there.

Again… the wind! Last nights local TV weather forecasted 6 to 10 inches of snow, we received 1 inch. The lake effect machine is in full throttle, but we happen the fall between the bands. 10 inches has been reported in various locations and I’m sure Suttons Bay is one of them. Again… the wind is dictating our “El Nino” winter weather. And these ice boats are ready to take advantage of it before the snow falls. We are under another “Winter Weather Warning” until Thursday at 10am. Another calm and cloudy beginning. The temperature rose to around 43 degrees this afternoon with some drizzle, not the kind of winter day you want. Sunday is forecasted to be cold and snowy. Last year on this date we had 61.2 inches in Maple City and two years ago 121 inches in Suttons bay. But then again, three years ago… Read more »
