Awaiting the arrival of the new dredging boat, crews are laying the tubing along the beach. Seasonal load limit laws are delaying the transporting.

Wow, what a success the whole dredge thing turned out to be. And it looks like dredging will start soon! One year, not too long ago, they pumped the sand south and it made a little peninsula out from the beach. That was fun.
So who runs the dredge?
All we know is there will be four people running it. The harbormaster or Jim Munoz probably know more.
James: Your observation seems to be quite cogent. My only observations are 1. local, state or federal reg’s, 2. Would repeated pumping to the north eventually cause a recession of the adjacent land? I wonder if a breakwater just south of the current entrance to the harbor and placed perpendicular to the shore would serve to stop the northward migrating sand? All that said, I wish I could be there to watch the operation. Happy springtime to all lawn mowers and garden growers.
Regardless of any additional barrier, sand will find it’s way in. Nature always finds a way. Pumping it to the north was done one year when there was an open path. This year not so much. The dredger is also going to have to dredge its way out of the harbor first, so they can attack the sand from the outside in. The barge is being delivered by road, so they are starting on the inside. 😉
We always enjoy your photos and updates. Thanks.
Stupid dredging question….why do they dump the sand toward the south where it just washes back toward the harbor? Wouldn’t it be more effective to put it over the northside of the breakwall? The year they made the “island” seemed especially counter productive.
