The Leland Yacht Club held a memorial Sunfish Regatta dedicated to the memory of Past Commodore Jim Fenton. Jim was known for his love of racing his Sunfish and dedication to his years as LYC Commodore. Present along with family members were Past Commodores Norb Gits, Bill Bolinger, Ted Sichler, Keith Burnham, Mary Jo Grogan, John Stanley and Laura Paine.
Mid-morning the sky darkened and the “Dark Sky” app on my I Phone started alerting that possible severe weather is on it’s way. A number of years ago the Leelanau County Road Commission experimented with a new road surface from Leland north to Leelanau Township. It has been the worst decision they ever made and we have been listening to the road noise and rattling trucks ever since. Today another section of it has been removed and replaced. Yea! Joanne and I joined with our Leland neighbors to congratulate Major General Brian Bishop and his wife Linda on his retirement from the United States Air Force and welcoming them back home. Also Happy 78th Birthday to my wife Joanne, love ya. Life is good!
A wonderful 4th of July in Leland Town.
Bumper to bumper, elbow to elbow, it was that kind of a day in Leland. Oh and later in the afternoon, the Thunderbirds, wing to wing. They came over my head so fast I couldn’t take a picture. It was a wonderful day.
