Vol XV #182 – Fishtown Sunrise and Later, a Van’s Beach Wedding

A special moment as the sun rises over Fishtown.  The sailboat could have had a little more wind to sail home with, but what a beautiful morning it was.  Wow!… and if you had planned a wedding on Van’s Beach in late September, how lucky can you get.  Congratulations to the bride and groom.

Vol XV #163 – Labor Day Bridge Walk 2015 / Meggen’s Monday

Happy Labor Day! In taking photos around town, often I am to capture an image that many people would not otherwise see. That’s the case for this week. I was out seeking the northern lights, which that evening last week were obscured by clouds. Instead, I was in the harbor when I heard a boat returning. It was after midnight!… Read more »

Vol XV #161 – Great Morning to Go Fishing

I heard someone say that last night’s T-Storm dumped 3+ inches on the Land of Delight last night. Below, this Cadillac ATS, which Jim Burnham says stands for “A Tiny Sedan” attracted my attention because it’s been parked in this “Compact Only” slot for a couple of days.  Cars park on the other side of the entrance road and the… Read more »

It’s Monday! Last night the Leland Community Sing – the seventh Sunday Night Sing of the summer –  was jammed. Song leader David Parrish, accompanied on piano by his wife, Mary, led us in singing many old favorites. For those who love to sing and will be in town next Sunday, bring your song requests and come to the… Read more »

Vol XV #129 – A Powerful Day Indeed

This week is the last week of Sailing School at the Leland Yacht Club, our grandkids, Meredith and Daniel Burnham along with Biscuit and the rest of the crew sat for a group picture. Our power outage lasted approx. 46 hours, not bad considering that the prediction was for Thursday at 4:00 pm which would have meant about 90… Read more »

Vol XV #126 – The Leland Coffee Club

Congratulations to this newly married couple exiting Fishtown as I arrived. The International Coffee Club of America, Leland Coffee Club, held it’s last sip this morning at the Leland Fire House. It’s next sip will be Monday morning at the Leland Lodge. The club was organized on March 4th, 1964 and has no by-laws, no officers, no dues and… Read more »
