I thought earlier that today would be a perfect “berging” day and as Biscuit and I cruised through Leland we saw a group of people carrying chairs and stuff out onto the ice at the entrance to the river. The TV weatherman promised sunshine this afternoon, not so far. I don’t know why we have Daylight Savings Time (DLST), does anyone?
After a snowy, very cloudy morning, the sky is showing some sunshine. The temperature at 11:30 is 40 degrees. The couple below is building the yellow house on Main Street .
About 2 inches of new overnight. Waiting for sunshine and 50 degrees.
The weather report for the coming weekend calls for sunshine and temperatures around 40 degrees. That should take care of most of this snowfall. We were forewarned last night before we went to bed that 5 inches of new would greet us in the morning and it did. The roads were in miserable condition for our morning trip to town and no better at noon. Winter ain’t over.
We headed north of the 45th parallel this weekend, to check out the blue ice that is pushed up onto shore near the Mackinac Bridge. This phenomenon happens when conditions are just right. A clear and cold morning started our day. Clouds moved in before noon. With little wind and surf, rock collectors had ideal conditions.
