This weekend, Dad, JP, and I ventured to the southern part of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore down by Platte Bay. We paid a visit to the Boekeloo Cabin – one that Dad along with volunteers from Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear, had worked on a few years back. We were pleased that it is in such great shape!
Morning downpour blowing horizontal for a few minutes quickly moved through and set the stage for a hot and humid day.
It was a crowded Fishtown at noon. A day predicted to have temperatures near 90, never rose out of the lower 60’s.
Sunshine and blue sky started our Leelanau day.

We put the boat in for the first time in a couple years and though the photo is pretty blah, I was in a boat on Lake Leelanau, so it wasn’t all that bad. Not until it started raining, of course! (Report by Jim) Unseasonably cold! 49 degrees at sunrise and no more than 55 all day. But, it was sunny and busy with Leelanau County Vets filling up the charters and having a fish fry at the dock.
