Looking back to one year ago today, the snow totals were 89 inches in Maple City and 113 in Suttons Bay. The temperature was 30 degrees and the wind was out of the west at 10 mph. The picture above shows the shoreline that has been battered by southwest, west, northwest winds that have eroded the beach to the degree that I’m at least 6 or more feet above the beach. One of the reasons is the lack of ice on the Great Lakes. This of course contributes to lake effect snow and the lack of sunshine. … Read more »
