Vol XV #230 – Making Waves

Today wasn’t the best day to take pictures.  With wind and rain, it wasn’t very pleasant.  Going down to the beach the wind sounds like a train roaring through.   All in all it could have been worse, not as bad as the weather people predicted.

Vol XV #229 – Rain, Wind Go Away

The gale warning flags are flying in anticipation of strong coastal winds for Leelanau County and South along the lakeshore. Yesterday the forecast was for gusts up o 60 mph, today, maybe 40 or so. The power company has crews positioned in the county to service any lines down.  There are a lot of stressed trees in the county from the… Read more »

Vol XV #218 – Keith’s Sunday

A blustery, cloudy beginning.  Not many people in town and Fishtown was empty.  Only stores open were Carlson’s Fish Shanty and Larry at the Shoe Store.  We are back on Standard Time and I hope there is a movement to get rid of DST sometime in the future.

Vol XV #207 – Rain, Rain, Go Away!… and it Did

Dense dark clouds at sunrise moving in from the southwest produced a few drops of rain in Leland as thunder sounded north.  Temperatures in the mid sixties were welcomed as the rain moved out of the area to the northeast.  Not a bad at all.

Vol XV #206 – Not as Nice as Yesterday

Not as nice as yesterday, but not the worst.  Another one of those “little bit of everything” days with some raindrops in the AM, sunshine at noon and overcast to mostly cloudy later.  Leelanau County is reaching peak color this weekend with temperatures in the mid fifties, sunshine Thursday thru Saturday. Possible showers Saturday PM.

Vol XV #202 – Leland, Somewhere Under a Rainbow

The day began with big waves splashing over the breakwall along with BB sized hale.  A rainbow graced the western sky as a lonely surfer fought the wind, waves and rain. In the early afternoon occasional pockets of blue opened up, what can you say other than it’s an eclectic weather day.

Vol XV #196 – That Early Morning Sun

The early morning sun was crisp and clear with a bluer than blue sky.  In fact the sun was blinding, shadows rule. The early morning visitors posing with Biscuit are from Singapore. Clouds moved in in the early afternoon along with a lot of people.

Vol XV #163 – Labor Day Bridge Walk 2015 / Meggen’s Monday

Happy Labor Day! In taking photos around town, often I am to capture an image that many people would not otherwise see. That’s the case for this week. I was out seeking the northern lights, which that evening last week were obscured by clouds. Instead, I was in the harbor when I heard a boat returning. It was after midnight!… Read more »
