HARD ALEE by G.B.Dent When wind and wave suddenly change their track; And a luff in your sail says you’ve lost the course. Do you challenge the gods with a windward tack ? Or turn your back and run with the force ? Sure an even keel gives the tiller man rest, As billowing clouds fill the… Read more »

(Report by Jim) Another Barbecruise is in the history books. The Leland Yacht Club awarded the float “Country Club Vs. Yacht Club” the coverted Mermaid Flag award. Good friends and great food. Always fun to see everyone.

(Report by Jim) Thanks to Frank Mead and his Leelanau Summinars program for allowing my Dad and I to present some of our favorite photographs from the Leland Report at the Leland Library. We had a lot of fun talking on a bunch of our favorite photo subjects! I created the first Leelanau Summinars website and never thought I would… Read more »

(Report by Jim) Another one of those days that the clouds rule the sky. Thanks to Roxane for helping plant and tend to the flowers on the bridge. Sometimes it’s good to get a different perspective.

You might see some from a sailboat, however…. Read more »

The second shot is a Walter McCord photo of the old Powerhouse from the bridge side. The third is a later view of the dam from the bridge in 1960 before the Cove or Falling… Read more »

Life on the lake. Not much has changed in 100 years. I guess the one thing that changed is that you don’t build boathouses on the lake. The winter ice turns concrete to rubble and bends steel. You can tell where this is with Whaleback in the background. This is Maro the Magician’s dock with Mrs Maro. Not sure whose… Read more »
